Later this summer the Stew & Oyster will open at the Little Kelham Clock Tower.
It’s an exciting landmark for the development - not only will it represent the first business moving into Little Kelham, but it’ll also be the first major addition to the western side of the site, with the Clock Tower apartments scheduled for completion soon as well.
The Stew & Oyster is new to Sheffield, but anyone familiar with Leeds and the surrounding area may well have been in one of four existing bars in Otley, Boston Spa, Oakwood and Calls Landing. The ethos in all he pubs is the same - a relaxed, informal setting for people to come together and enjoy simple, good food and a huge selection of drinks to suit all tastes and preferences.
The Stew & Oyster should blend in well in the beer-loving neighbourhood of Kelham Island, with 21 lines on the bar at any one time. There are also over 80 different spirits behind the bar and a wine list which regularly has over 25 different wines.
In terms of the menu, to paraphrase a well-known DIY brand: “It does exactly what it says in the name”. The Stew & Oyster serves beautifully cooked, unfussy stews, with vegan and vegetarian options and prices from just £5.50. Oysters are simply-presented, either individually or by the dozen. There are a number of other treats available, including sharing boards, sides and desserts, but it’s the stews and the oysters which understandably dominate the menu.
Over the coming weeks we’ll talk more about the Stew & Oyster as we get closer to swinging open the doors. We don’t have an exact date for the opening, but we’re certain it’ll be ready in time for people to enjoy some summer beer garden action - weather permitting.
