At Citu we are continuously researching and testing the latest materials and technologies to help us achieve our ambitious sustainability objectives. With each new development we improve on the best innovations from our preceding project, ensuring that we remain one step ahead in sustainable development.
Our developments are powered from a range of renewable energy sources, many of which have never been used in residential developments.
Here are some examples of the groundbreaking technologies that we consider and employ:
Citu strives to utilise new technologies allowing residents to track and monitor their personal energy usage and carbon consumption through digital mediums. We believe that being environmentally aware is simple; and doesn’t have to be inconvenient or compromise your quality of life.
Pipes buried 80 metres underground efficiently extract water already heated to a temperature of 12ºC. Beneath the surface the ground stays at this constant temperature making the system work all year round providing heat and cooling, and heat recovery.
The use of roof top solar panels provides efficient heating for hot-water.
Pioneered at our Greenhouse development we have installed two 9m roof-mounted wind turbines which provide the energy for communal lighting and lifts.
Where possible we also strive to work with Local Authorities to arrange the installation of off site turbines within the local urban environment to generate energy to off set against the annual loadings of the developments.
Recycling both rainwater and ‘grey’ water (waste water produced from domestic activities such as laundry, dishwashing and bathing) and installing water-efficient appliances saving each home over 25,000 litres of water per year.
